FAQ

Q: What is specialty coffee?

A: To be considered "specialty coffee" 350 grams of green coffee beans are inspected, including defective beans. Defective beans include primary defects (e.g. black beans, sour beans) and secondary defects (e.g. broken beans). To move past the inspection, the sample must include zero primary defects and less than five secondary defects. If the green coffee passes inspection it is roasted and then tasted via a process called "cupping" in which the roasted and ground coffee beans are simply brewed by pouring hot water over them and letting them steep. Then a certified coffee taster (SCAA) or a licensed Q grader (CQI) will then use their tasting skills and expertise to taste the resulting coffee and rate it on a scale of 0-100 based on several factors such as flavor, acidity, body, and aroma. The coffee is only considered specialty if it is rated 80-100 on that scale. All of Log Cabin Coffee's coffee beans meet or exceed these expectations.

Q: How long will my order take to get to my house?

A: All of our coffee is roasted, bagged, and shipped by hand and to order. We try to ensure this process is done as quickly as possible and it generally will take 5-7 business days to arrive at your address. However, because of the nature of our roasted-to-order process, variations and delays can occur.

Q: Can you grind my coffee for me?

A: Yes, we do recommend everyone try grinding their own coffee to experience as fresh as possible. However, we offer three grind sizes, coarse, drip, and espresso. We take steps to ensure that after grinding, the coffee is sealed in quality packs and shipped as quickly as possible to ensure freshness.

Q: Do you have social media?
