Coffee Country of November - Columbia
by Jacque Shipp
This month we will celebrate Columbia. For every bag of our Cabin Fever Espresso Blend you purchase we will donate one dollar to One Tree Planted and one tree will be planted in Columbia.
Columbia is one of, if not the most well known coffee growing country. It is the world's 3rd largest producer including robusta, and the largest producer of arabica beans. The coffee plant had spread to Columbia by 1790, with nearly 350,000 acres being farmed today. With coffee being the country's largest export, it is heavily regulated with much of coffee produced being fully washed as historically it is believed to produce the best cup. You will most often find this origin roasted dark as the nutty, chocolate overtones accompany the mild citrus acidity quite well.
